God has so many titles it would be hard to pick just one. When I’m afraid He’s “Yahweh Shalom” (The Lord is Peace) or “El Machsen” (God is my refuge, fortress). When I’m out of money and supplies He’s “Yahweh Yireh” (The Lord will supply). When I’m sick He’s “Yahweh Rophe” (The Lord who Heals), and when I sin He’s “Yahweh Tsidqenn” (The Lord our Righteousness). They are all beautiful. But the one that stands out the most to me is “Ab” (Father) or “Abba” (Daddy). With out this title I would not be as attracted to God as I am. Without the title of Father He would be like a benevolent landowner, kind but stern.
I did a job for a man like that once. He was very rich (with money and stuff). He was giving, friendly, and personable. He never raised his voice to any one, but there was no doubt that he was the one in authority. People would trip over each other just to work for him. It was a great experience… but he wasn’t family. There were limits to his forgiveness. Ultimately I saw that he was using me to get what he wanted, because when he was finished, he abruptly cut me out of the inner circle without so much as a thank you, and no explanation. I know that we can’t compare puny man with Awesome God, but this is just an example.
All of this is why, when I think about me being adopted by God… and that He proclaimed himself to be my Father… (Not just in charge) I’m blown away.
God my Father is more than benevolent…
Luk 15:31 And he said to him, Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.
More than kind…
1Jn 3:16 By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us.
And certainly much more than man…
Isa 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
This Film, made by Ray Comfort (LivingWaters.com) is so powerful that it left me trembling. My recommendation is that you put on your seat belt and take the time to watch it, for your own good, and the good of our nation. My words are not as important as this video… just watch it and you’ll see what I mean.
